Adult! (What a lame title.)
Rishi skyped me at midnight this morning. I was welcomed with an abundance of verses (maybe five? Six?) of the Happy Birthday song, in English and French (I don’t know if there were other languages…). As well as…
Some sort of dance? There was some sign language in there, so maybe it was that. Hahaha. Today at school, Rishi also had the brilliant idea of giving me a gift in each of my classes… I received a CD mix in band; a Victoria’s Secret bag of Sour S’ghetti (candy); The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri; and some ras malai, an Indian dessert consisting of cheese, milk, spices, sugar, and more stuff. Thanks Rishi!
And I just received a call from the two most sweetest girls ever… Maddie and Issy! Yay! And Josh and Char as well. :) It was great, hearing their little voices, singing “Happy Birthday” with several modulations… And there’s Char, trying to sing in whatever key they pick for the next line/note… :) Very awesome. Thank you Chen’s!
And thanks so much to everyone who wished me a happy birthday today. :) I might deliver a more serious post on the end of childhood and the start of adulthood, maybe tomorrow or the next day. But don’t count on it. :( I’m bad at keeping up with the blog now. This new year did something to my blogging routine :P I’ll try to post more often.
I guess I’ll tell you what I’ve been doing instead of blogging. I’m going through C.S. Lewis’ The Weight of Glory, a collection of essays by Lewis. Physically, it’s not that thick; but its content is dense. Pretty intense. Not going through more than one essay in a sitting. I might be reading blogs and news articles. I’m trying to keep updated with the world around me. There are also lots of sitting-in-my-chair-contemplating-life moments. Oh, I’m reading Daniel! He’s a cool guy. So are Rack, Shack, and Benny. :) I spent a good thirty minutes yesterday listening to those old Veggie Tales songs. Marathon one day, yes?
Okay, I’m gonna have to stop here. I have a large portion of the Heart of Darkness questions left to do, as well as five chapters to read for our plant test tomorrow in biology. Yay, a somewhat long post!
“‘You shall be careful therefore to do as the LORD your God has commanded you. You shall not turn aside to the right and or to the left. You shall walk in all the way that the LORD your God has commanded you, that you may live, and that it may go well with you, and that you may live long in the land that you possess.
“‘Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
“It is the LORD your God you shall fear. Him you shall serve and by his name you shall swear. You shall not go after other gods, the gods of the peoples who are around you, for the LORD your God in your midst is a jealous God, lest the anger of the LORD your God be kindled against you, and he destroy you from off the face of the earth.”
– Deuteronomy 5:32-33, 6:4-9, 13-15 (ESV)
Dude, forgot one thing! Thanks Michael, for baking a cake for me and bringing it over, and for joining us for dinner! Means a lot :) I hope that me forgetting you doesn’t mean a lot :P I have a picture on my phone, but it takes too long to hook it up and copy it and upload it. -_- Well, THANK YOU, again!
