I have given my life to Jesus Christ. What does that mean?
There is a God of this universe. He is completely good and perfect. He is loving. He created every single bit of the universe and has power to do anything. He created mankind, and He created me. Unfortunately, I was unable to meet His standards of perfection. Because God opposes sin and cannot have anything to do with it, and I had sin in my life, I was separated from Him and destined to an eternal death (as opposed to eternal life with God). However, God does not abandon His creation so easily. He loves me (and you) so much that He sent his perfect son Jesus to come down and take the death in our place. Not only did Jesus die, but he was resurrected and is now in heaven. By taking our punishment, Jesus took our sins as well and we can stand before a holy God and be with him.
Before I had given my life to Christ, I pursued things such as approval from my friends, love from so-called significant others, and success in academics. None of them were satisfying enough though, and I was forced to go to God and ask for his forgiveness. Now, my relationships have been mended and I can go through life knowing that I am not in control. God, who wants the best for me, is in control, and that is better than anything else.
